Our History
Sind Olympic Association was formulated in 1948 and got affiliation with Pakistan
Olympic Association (POA) in the same year. The main purpose of Sind Olympic
Association is to promote and develop Sports in the Province of Sindh.
The Sindh Olympic Association has its own Constitution and the Association has
responsibility to organize the National Games and Inter Provincial Games within
the Province, when allotted by the POA. IOC and OCA (Men & Women)
Management Courses is also organized by SOA as and when allotted by POA.
Sindh Olympic Association has the honour to stage the 1st Pakistan National Games
in Karachi that were held at Polo Ground, Karachi from 23rd to 25th April 1948.
These Games were inaugurated by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
Thereafter, the Association has staged the National Games in 1970, 1976, 1980,
1988, 1997 and 2007. Since 1986 Sindh Olympic Association has organized
altogether 16 Sindh Games in five divisions on rotational basis. The last Sindh
Games were held at Hyderabad in the year 2012 and at Karachi in April 2018.
